our website in 1998, our goal has been to present information about
Karen Blixen / Isak Dinesen that readers have difficulty finding
elsewhere. Other websites present photos of Karen Blixen and we are happy they do.
We might add that the most often seen photos of Karen Blixen, those
taken during her literary career, do not flatter her, and we find this
regrettable. We prefer photos that present a natural idea of her as a
person, not as a personality.
We should also add that we like people to form their own opinion of
Karen Blixen--in a way, like the writers of the Icelandic sagas. Each
reader is free to form his or her own impression. If we opened our
Homepage with a photo, the photo would represent only one of many
possible views of the author.
