Yenser writes in "The Fullness of Time," an essay found in Modern
Critical Views: James Merrill,
ed. by Harold Bloom (New York: Chelsea,
1985) that "Merrill's 'vision of life' . . . and 'devotion'. . . was
embodied [in section O] in the unselfish services rendered the natives of Kenya by
Isak Dinesen" (p.116).

Karen Blixen or Isak Dinesen in the literature concerning
