Question 11: Information about the house used in the film Out of Africa?
Q. In the movie Out of Africa was the original house used? Was it on location? Can anyone tour this house in Africa? Where is it? I've seen the movie over 20 times and often have said I'd like to build a house just like the one in Out of Africa.
A. You can tour Karen Blixen's house 12 miles southwest of Nairobi, Kenya. The house, now a museum, is similar to the one in the movie but not the same house--which is in the neighboring suburb of Langata. (There are no stairs in the original house.) See Travel links for photos.
