Your Questions

A. The poem about grey geese comes from the collection The Traveller and Other Poems by Iris Tree (New York: Boni & Liveright, 1927). Denys Finch Hatton's family was acquainted with the author, according to his biographer, Erroll Trzebinski (Silence Will Speak. London: Heinemann, 1977).

Online information states that the book "
is a collection of poems about traveling experiences. . .. London, Paris, Austria, and a section on returning, which includes her 1926 poem, 'Nantucket.'" Iris Tree (1897-1968) makes a cameo appearance, as herself, in Fellini's film,  La Dolce Vita (1960), reading a poem at Steiner's cafe.
