Question 6: Bible verses in "The Young Man with the Carnation?"
Q. I'm a translator and editor. Now I've translated Winter's Tales, and I am not able to find two quotations (not even in the Blixikon) from the Bible. Both of them are in "The Young Man with Carnation":
1. "...thou shalt bruise their heel but they shall bruise their head."
2. "I am good for nothing but to be cast out and be trodden under foot of men."
A. 1.) [The Seed of the Woman, and the Seed of the Serpent.]
Genesis 3:15 "And I will put Enmity between thee and the Woman, and between thy Seed and her Seed, it shall bruise thy Head, and thou shalt bruise his Head."
2.) Matthew 5:13: "Ye are the salt of the earth. But if the salt hath lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and trodden under foot of men."
["Ye are the salt of the earth. But if the salt hath lost its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out, and trodden under foot of men.
"Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
"Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
"Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matt. 5:13-16 ]
